Clark County School Retirees' Association

IMPORTANT TIME SENSATIVE! Our bylaws hadn’t been updated in quite some time—and some sections were incomplete. This summer, the Executive Committee carefully reviewed, completed, and modernized them to better reflect how our association operates today. Bylaws are the foundation of a nonprofit—they guide how we make decisions, elect officers, and manage responsibilities. Keeping them current helps ensure transparency, fairness, and smooth operations for everyone involved. We’ll be voting to approve the updated bylaws at the Winter Luncheon. Please take a few minutes to read through them in advance so you’re ready to cast your vote! Click the BYLAWS UPDATE button above to review the new bylaws.
Welcome to the Clark County School Retirees’ Association! We’re a vibrant community of retired educators who stay active, engaged, and connected. Enjoy tours, luncheons, and programs on topics like AI, education, and community growth. We support students through scholarships and grants, and advocate to protect retiree benefits. As part of the Washington State School Retirees’ Association (WSSRA), CCSRA helps you make the most of retirement while staying informed, empowered, and part of a supportive network.

Field Trips and Workshops
Ready for some fun? We voted at the fall luncheon and the choices were clear. Of the nine outings suggested, The Chelatchie Prairie Railroasd and the Ridgefield Wineries were the top choices. To follow up of the fall luncheon's program on Ai and what it can do for seniors, we considering a "hands on" workshop. You can sign up for one or all three at the winter luncheon at Cascadia Tech!

This top-voted favorite from our Fall Luncheon is rolling out this spring! Ride the historic Chelatchie Prairie Railroad for a charming ride through lush forests, over a dramatic bridge, and straight into a hand-dug tunnel. Sit back, relax, and soak in the beauty of Clark County’s countryside! Sign up at the winter luncheon, then bring your camera and your sense of fun—this is one outing you won’t want to miss! Sign up at the Winter Luncheon!

Coming in a close second for this year’s outing lineup—a visit to one of Ridgefield’s fabulous local wineries! We’ll be exploring options for a guided tasting and maybe even a behind-the-scenes tour of a vineyard. Many of these wineries host live music, food trucks, and cozy patio gatherings—so we’ll aim to pair good wine with great company and a dash of local flavor. This could be one unforgettable afternoon in wine country! Sign up at the Winter Luncheon!

We had a great presentation on AI at the Fall Luncheon—but not enough time to put it into practice! If you’d enjoy a hands-on workshop with a small group, sign up at the Winter Luncheon. We’ll explore easy, everyday ways AI can help retirees—like planning trips, organizing photos, writing notes, or learning new skills. No tech experience needed—just curiosity! If interested sign up at the Winter Luncheon!
Inspiring Educators
Visionary Leadership Award presented to Cascadia Tech Academy’s Mike Bjur

“Back in the 1980s, Mike Bjur sold the Clark County superintendents on a vocational skill center. That challenge was followed by convincing principals to give students an option to leave their home schools for expanded learning. And then there was a facility and program to put together. Mike led the team in accomplishing it all. As principal at Evergreen High School, I watched and supported the monumental undertaking. Forty years later, the success of Cascadia Tech is a testimony to Mike’s vision and leadership,” stated CCSRA President Terry Nelson. Click here to read the entire article in The Columbian.
